Nails and Daggers?

Nails and daggers are very different things but not when it comes to long nails! I have found this out the hard way. I used to bite my nails, so I went so long without beautiful nails (not to sound conceited, but I kinda am about my nails, ask anyone I have daily contact with). I have a friend at school who loves to mention how I could claw her eyes out with my nails (wouldn't happen) but still the comment is kinda odd. My nails are about maybe an inch long if not a bit more and strong. I am an avid user of nail hardener which makes my nails very hard to break and I can even carry hot plates on them (Yes their that long)! I am a playful person with sharp nails. I don't think the two mix. At all. I love spending time with my boyfriend but I don't think he's a fan of the 10 mini daggers I own. Not only has he been caught in the crossfire of them, I have too! I have no idea how he puts up with them considering if I even poke him it's like a sharp toothpick in the skin (I think I have a keeper, and I'm not just talking about my nails). Well everyone is a casualty of my nails including my family, friends and beloved dog.

I know what you're thinking. Why don't you get rid of them? Well I've worked so hard and I am so proud of my nails that I couldn't dare part with them!  I also never knew painting nails could be so easy. It is incredibly easy with long nails! Well stay tuned Gals and Guys for more stories about this girls venture into the fashion filled world that is to her, the unknown!

Weighing the Pro's and Con's

Pumping Iron, Lifting weights, breaking out the muscles and too much work? There are
plenty of names for weight lifting. Over the summer I felt quite lazy and wanted to get some work in. Luckily my best friend had a membership to Platinum Fitness Gym! Wasn't that a surprise for a few people over the summer? Teenagers working out? Maybe working out thumb muscles on video games and texting right? Nah!

I took weight lifting for two years when I first started high school and I fell in love, more like lifted into love (Get it? Lifted?) Ha. I happily started attending the gym on a weekly basis with my lovely work out buddy! After starting off light we gradually got stronger, after a month I went from about 50lbs on Bench Press to about 65lbs/70lbs! My friend as well made fantastic promise! Now the gym is usually known as a gross place with men having larger biceps than heads! Not this one. Everyone is friendly and it is very clean! I even suggested my grandmother check it out! I have been having the time of my life and on almost every weekend I plan on going with her! It's 10lbs better to work out with a friend than by yourself any day!
Now they have some pretty crazy machines so we mainly stick to weight lifting and basic other exercises, such as stretching and leg press, arm weights etc. Before you go thinking that we're crazy, try it out! Here's a little facts for you! Women's bone density get's weaker thus it's good that we women weight lift to stay in peak physical condition for those heels right? Also there are ways to keep your nails unbroken! Now here is a fact for those men! Men should do water aerobic exercises and stretching to stay health and limber! So get out and try it out! At this particular gym there is a salt water pool (Crazy!) and quite the chlorinated jacuzzi!

Stay tuned for more tips on how to get toned for those fall clothes! Now it's your turn to get lifted into love and with a cute outfit you might even find a great workout companion!

Fantabulous Fried Foods?

Is there such a thing as fantastic fried foods? Now, I am not the largest lover of fried foods but I know that they are the favorite of quite a few people. So is there such a thing as fantastic? Delicious yes, odd looking yes, godly yes! But the calories! OH THE CALORIES! Oh the humanity of the calories! What am I to do! All this week in culinary we have been doing fair foods! It's driving me crazy! I went the fair yesterday and all the food! It's just absurd! It's everywhere, from deep fried cream cheese, to deep friend butter? It's absurd!

In my culinary class room, I swear i'm gaining calories through the scent! Monday was deep
fried anything, Tuesday was Indian Fry Bread, Wednesday was pancakes?, Today was deep friend snickers and tomorrow is, I am not sure. But i'm sure it's quite a Hum-Dinger! Either way it's fried foods galore! Non-stop. All day. The scent permeates EVERYWHERE! Honestly, it gives me quite the headache but it's still amazing. All a bazillion calories of it!

So Honey's! If you haven't visited your fair yet, GO! GO NOW! Get that amazing food and some Italian shaved ice just for me! Enjoy! Feast! Then diet. Diet eternally, or feast some more. Either way! Get some of that fantabulous fried foods quick! Stay tuned for more Quirky Quests for this Quizzical Gal!

The Warm, The Hot, And The Oh My!

Do you know the difference between the warm the hot and the Oh my! Considering the fact that I live in Arizona I most definitely do, it gets hot! It feels like the surface of the sun hot, very hot! It drives me crazy, The temperature lately has been insanely bi-polar. It's 40 degrees one week and then BAM it's suddenly 90! It's insane! I've been considering to start wearing shorts, but I can bet you that the day I start is the day it'll be freezing cold. Yes, yes I can look at the weather but it's not always right, and it can say 50, but it'll feel 70. I'm going out of my mind on what to do! I am not a hat lover, nor a hair putter upper!

Now the worst thing about the heat down here is school! I love school, but not at noon. Today was the first day that my 5th period felt like it was located under the pit of fire! You think the school would turn on some air conditioning or something considering that my first four periods are ice cold! It's my first four periods, lunch, than fire! It's absurd! I can't tell ya'll how pale I am from just wearing pants 90% of the year! If I wear shorts, I'll blend in with the concrete and I am not into tanning! Ooooooo, Maybe I can work on my camouflage techniques! So my only advice for ya'll playing in the snow or melting in the sun is to stay beautiful and work on those tans or work on the blending techniques!

Cake Vs. Clothes?

Today has been quite the day and this day has been filled with cake. Endless cakes. When I say endless, I mean endless Honey! Oh Goodness am I tired! I swear if you popped me in the oven, I'd bake up into a cake! I have an amazing catering even coming up on Thursday and Friday. We're catering a drama production. I believe the play is a murder
mystery using Disney Characters (quite interesting).

For the performance we (I and the rest of the staff) are preparing a type of pasta, I believe a salad with a nice dressing and of course, my lovely baked goods, cakes. Since I am the head baker I had to get started on the cakes today! Oh Goodness Honey! So I spent my afternoon making friends with a very old and LARGE mixer. Now this mixer does not love me, nor the whip I attempted to fit on it. Needless to say we had to use a hammer! So I and my mini-staff prepared 4 full sheet pans of a fantastic yellow cake (all from scratch) and a fantabulous chocolate cake (once again from scratch)! I've never had to use 9lbs of flour before, until today. I also never had to weigh out eggs cracked. I discovered that an egg without a shell is about 1.1oz. very interesting.

Well onward! Tomorrow I must prepare the frosting, I believe we are doing a chocolate
moose filling (These are all two layer cakes), and a vanilla whipped butter cream! I hope I don't gain weight by just being around these, I swear I could gain calories through my finger tips! I'll definitely post pictures afterwards. Once last thought Honey! If you're planning a crazy baking day, Don't wear black, and put your hair up, and don't get into a flour fight, or fall into cake batter! I learned the hard way. Well have a delicious day and stay tuned for more cute comments from this cake covered gal!

Crazy Cleaning Day?

Now I know, the last thing most people want to do is clean, and I thought I was the same way. I grew up with a very clean house and I was always very organized but I never thought I was this clean crazy until Yesterday. So Yesterday I went over to a house and oh my goodness, was it horrid. You could see everything was dirty. The floor, bathrooms, carpet, tables, sinks, everything! It was terrible. So I pulled out the vacuum and went crazy on all the carpet, then steamed the showers (no idea why, I just always do this), swept and mopped and BAM! I mean yea, there was a few other things I did too, but let's just say when I left it was fantastic. I love cleaning and I didn't realize how bad I was about it until yesterday too. Oh Honey! Maybe I'm losin my mind, could be possible. But when I went back today I pine-sol'd all the tables and washed all the windows! Only if I could be like this with my truck! I'm completely exhausted and I crave some ice cream! So stay tuned for more tantalizing tales brought to you by the glamorous gal Ashley!

Not So Skinny Jeans?

Recently I have discovered that skinny jeans are not so skinny anymore. For the longest time I always wore them. I bought them in all sorts of designs and colors. I bought checkered ones, multicolored ones, half black half white, half purple half black ones, plain colored ones. I've had them all! I wore them for a few years and bought them all the time. I was all over them, Then one day I awoke and just lost it. I lost my love for them and needless to say now my little brother has quite the pants collection going on.

I believe it hit me that I hated them when I went to Good Will one day and tried on a pair of
flared jeans. Then I fell in love. Oh glorious love. They are SO much more comfortable than skinny jeans and just amazing. One of the best things about them is that I can slip my pants over my shoes! Normally when I went somewhere to try on pants I had to take off my shoes because the skinny jeans and now I don't! Which I love considering I don't like standing on dirty surfaces on my socks! Plus Good Will has quite the variety of the flared jeans and other varieties at great prices! And for those of you who can rock the skinny pant they also have a lot of those! So hurry up and get to Good Will and try all those fantastic pants! Go for a new style Honey! Keep strutting into this Gal's blog for more information on those posh pants!

Wind, Wind, Everywhere! Get out of my Hair!

Hey Honey's! Today I have been battling the awful, the horrid, the hair attacking wind! This is
absurd and well frankly, I do not like it. I do not like it all. Well Wind, I do not like you here, I do not like you there, I do not like you anywhere! Let alone in my hair! So is there such a thing as wonderful wind. Nope! When it is a light breeze yes, especially when it is nice and cloudy. But not this dust storm. Not this flying dust. So Honey's if you're dealing with fierce winds today (that are fiercer than you) I suggest you put your hair up or hold it tight!

One good way to get  the wind out of hair a little bit is to either locate inside of your house all day and car or shopping (need an excuse), but the best thing is if you're out and about to put your hair up Honey! I know you have a hair scrunchie somewhere! So braid it, ponytail it, bun it, whatever you want! Just get it up! Or you are going to be dealing with some messy tangled hair (which I am quite the nay-sayer of)! Well now the wind over here is WILDLY howling and I'm going to assume that I can lose connection with ya'll anytime now! So I am have and stay tuned. Here are some wise words from Ashley! Ashley says use this as an excuse and go buy some shoes!

Thrifty Threads!

Hey Honey! Do you crave thrift threads? Fashionable clothes? Name brands? I bet you're tired of and don't enjoy spending tons of money on a shirt or pants (Unless you love it!)! Well there are tons of places in your area that you can buy such clothing at! Now this is not for everyone even though it should be! Now await the drum roll (insert drum roll) aaaaand the answer is THRIFT SHOPS! There are tons of things that can be bought at thrift shops from clothing to toys to oh my favorite animal shaped candles!

There are many Thrift shops everywhere! There is the Good Will (my favorite) good for everything, Twice As Nice (Nice designer clothing at a quarter of the price), thrift shops, savors etc! They go on and on! The great thing is some of the stuff donated or sold to these shops is in almost brand new condition or new! Which is my favorite part. Most people who haven't been to a shop imagine it as a store with gross stuff. Well that is definitely not the case Honey!

My favorite place to buy my lovely pants is the Good Will. Oh my goodness do they have some fantabulous pants! Sometimes they even have absolutely precious dresses!  One of the best things that I have found at the Good Will was a fantastic pair of sandals and boots. Oh my goodness they have quite the selection. They also have great knick-knacts! So in the end Honey! If you're looking for great clothes and FANTABULOUS prices go prance into your local thrift store and shop shop shop it up! So keep trotting into this gal's blog for more thrifty tips!

Superb Skin?

Do you crave Superb Skin? Do you have a love of lotion because I sure do Honey! Oh boy do I love lotion. I am quite the lover of it. Normally my skin isn't too dry but just because Spring decided to spring upon me now my skin is all up in ash! Literally, I hate it! So now I have resorting to putting lovely lotion on my skin twice a day! I do not wear perfume, I don't like it. So I wear scented lotion (preferably fruit scents Mmmmmm) Oh goodness! As I am typing this my skin starting to itch! Nooo!

I have tried many different types of lotions. From dollar store lotion to fancy shmancy lotion! I loved it all but my FAVORITE of all time would be (Drummmm Rolllll pleasee) BATH AND BODY WORKS! My favorite time of year because of this would be when they decide to smile down upon on me and hold that oh so craved 75% off sale! I am all over that instantaneously! There is a Bath ad Body Works in the mall but I am more of a lover of the online version! They have so much more, sadly my store is more of a flower/perfume scented store, where as I am a lover of the fruit scents! They are fantabulous! I love it all!

I also love their aromatherpay department as well! Mostly online too! They tend to have it cheaper online which I love (I'm quite the penny pincher). My favorite currently is the stress relief collection the Eucalyptus one! MMMM! Can you believe that they also have shampoo and conditioner? Crazy, but it's fantabulous. But it's also expensive (Thus the love of sales)! Did I mention that they also have fantastic candles? They do! So if you haven't experienced the Fantabulousness of Bath and Body Works Honey I suggest you do! And if you have Sign up online for e-mails on all the sales and check the website often! They tend to put stuff for 50% off often! Take advantage and smell great while doing it! So stay tuned for an essence of Ashley!

Accessible Accessories

Now I know that I am not the only girl who prefers mini accessories over large ones. Now by accessories I mean, hairbrushes, mirrors, nail file, nail polish, nail clippers, ya'll know what I mean. I suppose they can be called grooming items, I prefer accessories! Sounds sassier! I like to keep knifty items such as these with me at most times of the day (I have long hair and I always brush it, brush, brush, brush!). But how can you keep all these things with you at all times, they take up a lot of space! NOT!

Now I love my big hairbrush, but it can't live in my backpack or my truck console! So I buy mini ones! They are so adorable! I keep one in my truck, one in my bag, one in my backpack and one in my locker! I love it because Target and Walmart always have them for only a dollar or two! It fantastic, and they also come in cute colors! Now I know you already know about compact mirrors, so I don't need to go into how precious they are!

I am a crafty prepared girl! So I have a few multi-tool kits just about everywhere including my purse and truck (I even have a mini hammer that turns into pliers!) It's quite knifty, I love it! So anyway, I recently was given an adorable multi-tool that also has a nail file on it and nail clippers and is PINK! It is so precious, One day I was in the bank and now that my nails are long I'm all over them and I chipped one! Oh no! So I went out to my truck and pulled out my metal nail file out of the multi-tool and BAM! No chipped nail. Now it's lovely again! Ironically these are the pictures of what I have! Aren't they just precious? Lastly I love this mini bottles of nail polish! They are great for touch ups anywhere on your nails! I move a lot so my nails hit and scratch things they do require touch ups!

So there are the most Accessible Accessories from the Athrill Ashley!

Neat Nails!

Neat Nails Honey! I recently discovered how fantabulous Crackle Nail Polish is! Every week I paint my nails differently because I don't want to do it on a daily base and plus I use the clear polish on top so it stays on longer! Around Christmas time I was bought a huge set of that fancy Crackle nail polish. I have to admit, It took me a few tries to figure out how to make it look nice and not have to use a safety pin to my own cracks in! (Oh my goodness, The Television is blaring, I can't concentrate!) Anyway I fell in love with it when I used it last night! It looks fantastic! I prefer contrasting colors, Like Black and Pink, Blue and Pink, Green and light blue. I love it! It's so just amazing! If you haven't tried using it yet, I highly suggest you try it because it looks fantastic! Sorry this post isn't very long! I am absolutely exhausted! So stay tuned for more cute comments from Ashley! The Gal that is filled to the brim with ideas!

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow!

Everyone get's their hair cut! There are a MILLION things that people can have done to their hair! Today I went to the hair saloon and got my hair trimmed because I'm not brave enough to do something big with it! But that doesn't mean you can't! Now, I don't know how to do hair at all! My friend at school always asks me to play with her hair, HONEY I CAN'T! I can brush it, I can kinda sorta half braid it, but I can't do anything like what you see models have. I can barely do a pony tail for catering events Honey! (Now off topic, I just broke one of my lovely long nails! I'm such a sad Popsicle :c) Hair, Hair, Hair. Too much hair. Too many strands. Too many products. Too many ideas.

One of the only hair experiences I have is the fact that I have had my hair at certain points in time be Red, Blue, Purple, and bleached Blonde. I am a lover of the streaked hair, but Honey, don't bleach your hair! I have very dark brown hair and believe me bleach does not make it blonde the first time. If you want a painful time brushing your hair bleach it! I find it even more difficult to put streaks in my hair because of the color of my hair it MURDERS the color of the streaks. So I just no longer do much with my hair except for the occasional Pony Tail! I can't even do a bun Honey. Poor poor Ashley!

All I can say is get a friend to do your hair or learn how to do it
because SALOON'S are OUTRAGEOUS!! I don't want to pay $20 for something that will be gone tomorrow, That will be hard to wash out of my hair, to deal with it! I am a nay sayer of the hair spray! I hate it so much! It makes my hair feel all crunchy which is not what I want me hair to feel like. I wish I could give some tips on cool things to do with your hair, but I can't. That makes me a very sad lady. Very sad. But Honey, Here you go! How I am with hair is, Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow! Keep popping in to the land of Ashley! The girl with knowledge of very much except for Fashion!

Knifty Knitting!

Do you buy knitted items because you adore the knit look? I see girls all the time with knitted hats, gloves, bags, sweaters, scarves and more! Most people don't learn to knit because of how time tasking it can be and how difficult. When people hear 'knit' they think knit one, pearl two, knit one, pearl two (That's a crocheting term actually!). It is SO much easier than that honey! There is a great thing called Loom Knitting! Now you don't do it on HUGE looms, you do it on decent sized looms that you can buy almost anywhere in various shapes! You can buy them at Walmart, any hobby store, really any craft place! AND don't forget your yarn! There are tons of things you can knit with these lovely looms!

The looms come as circles,  ovals, an odd swivel pattern, really any pattern! The looms also come in different sizes because babies don't have the same sized head as your husband honey! The shape doesn't matter as much It just makes it easier like knitting a scarf on an oval loom. After you purchase the looms they come with instructions on how to knit certain things such as hats, hats with brims, scarves (I love those scarf patterns!), and bags! It's really knifty to be able to create your own hats and mittens instead of buying them and believe me honey a roll of yarn goes a LONG way! You can even knit a shawl (great for the fall/winter) AND you can make them in any color you want! So whatever you knit goes with all of your outfits. It also works great to make your own little business and knit clothing that your friends request! There are just endless possibilities.

So go out and get some looms and start knitting! Knit items never go out of style honey! Take advantage! Stay tuned in for more knifty idea brought to you by Ashley the girl with endless ideas for you!

This Twists My Mind In Designer Designs!

Prada, Gucci, Coach, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dolce and Gabbana, Dior, Oscar De La Renta, The list goes on forever! I gotta tell you, I didn't know half of these let alone know that they were real names! The designer world is a world of unknowns that most don't understand, let alone me. It seems to never end! I do not know what fashion is and every time I think I got the slightest hint of it, BAM there's a lady walkin down the runway with a million ruffles upon her drowned in veils! Where do these people get these ideas! Talk about imagination honey! They must be drowning in it!

I see girls all of these brand names, spending HUNDREDS of hundreds on a bag that won't last for long but why? I can find some lovely bags at Millers Surplus (My shopping center day is
spent at a military store, they have some lovely bags). I don't think I will ever understand what kind of hold these designer brands have on people! One thing I don't understand is why do they have OUTRAGEOUS looks on the runway but then if you want it in the store it's a forth of what it was on the runway! That don't make no sense at all honey. No sense at all. My mother is a lover of the brands, She is all up over them at all times. She buys designer brands with the money she doesn't have and it makes it look like she has money but she doesn't. No sense. Fashion is just absurd!

One of the last things that twists my mind in designer designs is designer sunglasses! Designer people make everything from designer sunglasses to underwear! "Hey girl, I just bought the latest Dolce and Gabbana briefs, I feel fabulous!". What!? Does fashion have that much of an effect on people? As I already said, I'll never understand. Ever. Fashion is not my lover and not my best friend! To end this lovely rant of absurdities I will leave you with only one question.

Honey, Do you know who this is? Because I sure don't!

A Girl's Best Friend for Less!

Girls LOVE to accessorize! I see girls with all types of things! I see girls with their ears
pierced more than one time, There is the mighty group of face piercers (I'm too afraid for that!), Girls with their chest plate pierced (No way!), Nose piercers, bellybutton piercers! There are just a million places to get a piercing! Away from piercings there are bracelets, necklaces, rings, ankle bracelets and even waist bracelets! They just got on and on! But how much do all these things cost? Are you a girl that loves it all, You see and BAM it's on you?

Well there's an easier way to save money for those crafty gal's out there! You can create your own jewelry! Sounds hard doesn't it, Well it is definitely not hard at all! All it takes is a little trip to your local Walmart or Hobby Store and go to the jewelry section and buy a jewelry making kit! Inside the kit it'll come with some wire (for bracelets), Earring hooks for earrings, 3-part pliers, hollow silver things to push down at the end of beads so they don't decorate the floor! One thing you will need is what
type of beads that you find beautious! Now don't go get HUGE beads but get cute small ones in any color that you want and start mapping the design inside of your head or on paper! Now I won't go into details on how to create jewelry because the kit that you buy will tell you how to a lot better than I could! But there you go! A girl's best friend for less! In the back of Walmart with all the beads they have plenty of things you can buy! They have dollar packs of beads that are beautiful, they have tiny fancy silver/metallic beads that work good with almost any color, different types of earring pieces and just about everything! So now you can buy that lovely dress you found (That originally wouldn't match any of your jewelry) and create your own jewelry!

I made these!
Now you can't create new facial piercings with this but you can create lovely new bracelets, earrings and much more! It does take a bit of time but in the end it is worth it! You can even start your own business by making jewelry for other people and charging, it works great for gifts and is great for anyone who loves jewelry and money! Well there ya go! Stay tuned for more craft ideas brought to you by Ashley! The Gal just keeps giving!

Nails!

Nails, Nails, Nails, Nails and wait more nails! Everyone has nails and I am a fanatic about painting mine (One of the only maybe fashionable things I know!) I used to bite my nails more than the sky is blue, but then I found out how to quit! Don't try that weird polish that gives them that horrid taste! Just put crazy fancy stick on designs on them! Their are tons of stick on nails that you can cut or file to fit your nail and it'll look so good you won't want to bite em'

I am definitely not an artist nor anyone near one but there are tons of awesome things you can do to your nails (That I only recently discovered thankfully to my friend). There is a nail style called marbling.
Steps to marbling!
  •   Get a bowl of water or multiple tiny bowls filled with water (10 like the amount of your fingernails).
  • Put tape around your finger surrounding your nails but not on the nail.
  • Take your favorite colors of nail polish (The picture above used pink, purple and black). Place a drop of each in the water on top of each other (Don't let the brush touch the water just let the nail polish drop off of it).
  • Take a toothpick and swirl it through the nail polish.
  • Place the top of your finger nail on the design and lift, all the nail polish will come up and onto your finger (Thus the tape!)
  • Let it dry and peel off the tape and paint over the design with clear nail polish to make it last longer!
  • You can also look up how to do it on youtube!
There are tons and tons of things that you can do to your nails! My mind wants to implode with all the fancy things that can be accomplished!
One idea that I know a girl that does it is the whole 3D nail scene! She buys buttons from the local Walmart and clips off the back of it (The loop part that is used to sew) and she paints her nails then she uses super glue or nail glue and glues it to her fingers! I'm clumsy enough with now long nails how could I possibly go around with objects on em'! But it looks really cool there are tons of buttons! You can also do it with little pearls and small objects (But don't use a clear coat with these!).

As I said there are tons of ideas on how to anything to your nails! I am a HUGE fan of nail art pens! I love to write on my nails. If you are SUPER artsy (unlike me) you can draw awesome pictures and cute little figures!

One of the COOLEST ideas I have found is the newspaper on nails idea! To do these
beautious nails you will require clipped newspaper articles of your choice, white nail polish, clear nail polish, make-up pads or cotton flat pads (Can do without), Rubbing alcohol, Nail polish remover a cu tip and OF COURSE your finger nails!

How to do Newspaper Nails!

  • Cut out small clippings from your newspaper! Your favorite words, small pictures, numbers, letters, anything!
  • Paint your nails with a white base coat first and let dry.
  • While your nails are drying put the newspaper clippings on seperate make-up pads (Little cotton flat pads).
  • Place your finger in rubbing alcohol for about 5-10 seconds and quickly put news paper clipping over it and hold it for about 10-15 seconds, peel off slowly
  • A little bit of newspaper may be stuck to your finger nails. Take a cu tip and dip in nail polish remover and gently use on extra paper to remove it
  •  Then paint a lovely clear coat on top and BAM! Beautiful nails! :)
